Green Amethyst
Green amethyst (prasiolite) is a rarity in the quartz palette: delicate sage to spring green, quiet and modern. Natural occurrences are extremely rare — market material arises from gently heating amethyst, which we disclose.
The only notable natural source lies near Montezuma in Minas Gerais, Brazil, where green quartz occurs directly beside amethyst deposits — almost nowhere else in the world.
An even, cool green without a yellow cast is sought. Like every quartz (Mohs 7) the stone suits daily wear and is usually eye-clean. Large sizes are typical and made for sweeping cuts.
A stone of the modern age: green amethyst stands for freshness, growth and the quiet side of nature — a contemporary statement for anyone seeking colour beyond the classics.
Lukewarm soapy water, a soft cloth. Avoid prolonged heat and intense sun in the long term.
Natural occurrences are limited to one region in Brazil and extremely rare. Market material almost always arises from heating amethyst — a permanent, disclosed treatment.
White gold and silver lift its cool green; yellow gold warms it. Both work — we are glad to advise on stone combinations and setting.
